Asanteman Association of Europe donates to NMIMR


The Asanteman Association of Europe, a non-profit organization comprising of Ashanti’s in the European countries which aims at supporting government fight against the global COVID-19 pandemic, as part of its corporate social responsibility has donated 80 pieces of face shield, 200 disposable face mask, 200 Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs) and bottles of Awake Mineral water to the Institute to support in the fight against COVID-19.

Nana Afia Agyapomaa Bonsu, UK Asantefuo Hemaa and a representative of the Asanteman Europe Association who handed over the items to Noguchi stated that the aim of Asanteman is to contribute in the development of Ghana.

Nana Afia commended the frontline workers and staff of the Institute for their sacrifices and the good work they are doing for the nation during this pandemic and made mention that they have donated some items to other three (3) Institutions in Kumasi and shared foodstuffs to the Asanteman land and other communities.

“The world call for the support of all Ghanaians abroad in fighting the virus and it is critical that we all contribute to the actions being taking”, she noted.She finally advised Ghanaians to adhere to the safety precautionary measures to be safe from the virus.

The Director, Diaspora Affairs in Ghana, Office of the President, Mr. Akwasi Awuah Ababio who was present at the donation ceremony , indicated that the Diaspora is excited to contribute in this time because it is its way of fulfilling government policy. He expressed his appreciation to the Asanteman Europe Association, citizens who live outside the country for their contributions in helping Ghana fight against COVID-19.

Mr. Akwasi also admonished all the various association abroad to try and contribute from time to time when they have the means to do so.

 Prof. Abraham K. Anang, Director of the Institute in receiving the items expressed his  appreciation to the Asanteman Europe Association for their support.

 The Director called on the private sector and philanthropists to support the centre to deliver timely test results.
