Short Bio/CV

J. H. Kofi Bonney is a research scientist who began his professional research work at Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research in 2000.  His special interest is in virology. He graduated from the University of Ghana with a PhD in Microbiology after obtaining a Masters in Medical Microbiology in East London and Leicester Universities in UK for the start of his PhD program respectively.

Dr. Bonney has had the opportunity to conduct an extensive year-long research study with the Virology Department of the Bernhard Nocht Institute for Tropical Medicine in Hamburg, Germany -a WHO reference center for Arboviruses and Viral Haemorrhagic Fevers (VHFs). As a consequence of his PhD research work with regards to the establishment of testing protocols for VHFs, the first cases of Lassa fever in Ghana were detected and documented as well as the testing of suspected Ebola cases and other VHFs. Kofi Bonney resides in Legon, Accra and is married with two children.
