Dr. Frempong receives ARNTD Grant Award

Dr. Kwadwo K. Frempong, a Principal Research Assistant at the Department of Parasitology, Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research has received a small grant (junior award category; Ref: SGP II/0114/089) from the African Research Network for Neglected Tropical Disease (ARNTD) supported by the USAID and UK aid. The grant is expected to last for one year. His study is titled “Evaluation of newly developed urine dipstick for onchocerciasis diagnosis”and will evaluate the performance of a newly developed tool for onchocerciasis diagnosis based on urine (by scientists of the Scripps Research Institute, USA) in comparison with existing tools i.e. microscopic examination of skin-snip and Ov-16 RDT tests. His mentors are Dr. Mike Y. Osei-Atweneboana (Director, CSIR-Water Research Institute) and Prof. Daniel A. Boakye (Parasitology Dept., NMIMR).
