The Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research (NMIMR) is pleased to invite you to the opening ceremony of The West African Network for TB, AIDS and Malaria (WANETAM) 2 Year 1 Retreat .

The WANETAM is part of a group of four Nodes of Excellence created by the European and Developing Countries Clinical Trials Partnership (EDCTP) to combat poverty-related diseases in Sub Saharan Africa. WANETAM brings together 4 European institutions and 16 West African institutions including NMIMR, The targeted general objectives of WANETAM are as follows: 

(1) Capacity building & Technology Transfer to prepare West African institutes for the successful conduct of clinical trials.

(2) To create a network of excellence for sub-regional scientific collaborations.


As part of the deliverables, the Institute is hosting the year one (1) annual general meeting at the NMIMR, Legon, from 14 -16 January 2019. This meeting will mainly focus on the assessment of the year one (1) project activities and in-depth discussions and reprogramming of future plans. The theme for this meeting is “Empowering African Research Institutions through Capacity Building, Partnership and Networking”

The opening ceremony is scheduled to take place on 14th January, 2019 at 9:00am.
